Mom’s Sunday Fruit Salad
This fruit salad is a special recipe I got from my mom. She was an amazing mother! (She also shared with me this Quick & Easy Fruit Salad, Frog Eye Salad and this Yummiest Fruit Salad EVER!)
Everything I learned, I learned from my mom. She cooked home-cooked meals for us six kids and let us help in the kitchen. The motto I heard from her whenever we cooked together was, “part of cooking is cleaning up!” Wise words that I never forgot. Thanks mom!
Which fruits are best for fruit salad?
Honestly, fruit salads are super easy to switch out fruits and add-ins that you like! Especially this fruit salad recipe. It is super easy to add in fruits you or family/friends like.
What does fruit salad contain?
This fruit salad recipe has a mixture of fruit juices and some sugar (with a tiny bit of salt) and then a little bit of cornstarch to thicken it up. After it’s cooked, cool for a bit and then fold in the whipped cream.
This makes for an amazing, creamy mixture to fold in any fruit (I like grapes, raspberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple and peaches) or add-ins – such as marshmallows or coconut – that you like.
How long do fruit salads last?
This fruit salad recipe will last a few days in the refrigerator. You will need to stir it to mix it together if it’s been in the refrigerator for a few days, but it does stay good for at least 3-4 days.
Several years ago, my mom taught a weeknight homemaking class at our church for the women to attend. She shared some great salad recipes, whipping up some of our family favorites for all to try. Then she gave out a little plastic bound booklet of several typed-up salad recipes.
I still have my copy! The binding has broken off and has several stains on it, but it is my go-to salad recipe book and this is one of my favorites!
I hope you try it and like it as much as my family and I do!
Mom's Sunday Fruit Salad
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 3 Tbsp. orange juice
- 6 Tbsp. pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 pint whipping cream
- Any fruit and add-ins such as pineapple tidbits, grapes, rasperries, peaches, marshmallows or coconut
Instructions
- Mix cornstarch, sugar, and salt in small saucepan. Add juices and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Cool.
- Whip cream and fold into cooked mixture. Stir in desired fruit and add-ins. ENJOY!!
Notes
Adding pineapple to fruit salad and using the juice from the can for the juice needed in the cooked sauce is great. Also do the same with canned mandarin oranges.
*In the fruit salad photos: There is 1 can drained mandarin oranges, 1 drained can pineapple tidbits, about 1 cup sliced green grapes, 1 sliced peach, 1 carton fresh raspberries, 1 cup mini marshallows and 1/4 cup of shredded coconut.*
This is the prettiest fruit salad ever! Just looking at it makes me want some right now! It’s very different than most fruit salads with it’s cooked dressing! Perfect for brunch!

Valuable ideas and advices. I just read your subject with great interest. They are saying they’ve been taxed and controlled to dying for many years, and they’ve no choice but to complete the things they can to claw their long ago into profitability.

Hi Jen,
What is a good sub for the pineapple juice? My daughter is allergic to that. Thank you!
Hi Mandy! You can use orange juice in place of the pineapple or just use water. The pineapple juice is there to give the dressing a little more flavor. I hope this helps!
