If you’re like me and hate eating fresh veggies, then this is the dip for you! This Ranch Hummus Dip has cottage cheese, greek yogurt AND garbanzo beans so it has lots of protein and it is so good with fresh veggie sticks! It’s a creamy and delicious dip that takes only 5 minutes to throw together!Did you know that I’m queen of dips? I have like a million dip recipes on this here blog. Fruit ones, caramel ones, skinny ones, salsa ones, you name it. But you know what I don’t have? Hummus. I’ll admit right here, right now that I’m sort of a scaredy baby about making hummus.
I finally put my big girl pants on and decided to make the most basic hummus recipe I could find on all recipes. Guess what? Every single last hummus recipe I could find had tahini in it. What in the world is tahini?! And why is it so dang hard to find in my grocery store?
I literally spent 20 minutes trying to find it at my Ralph’s grocery store and then I gave up. The next time I went, I asked someone that worked there and he had to search around to finally find it in the kosher section by the ethnic foods. It’s pretty pricey for the little can thing you get.
Anyway, I went home and made a simple hummus recipe. It was the most BLAND thing I’ve ever tried. I added spices, olive oil, garlic…basically anything I could think of to get it to have some flavor. No dice. I cried and then threw it out.
Fast forward a week and I’m draining a can of garbanzo beans to put in my salad for lunch and lo and behold, there’s a recipe printed on the paper around the can for a kid friendly ranch hummus. And guess what? NO tahini needed!! Intrigued, I cut the paper off the can and put it aside.
The next time I went to the grocery store, I picked up everything I needed for the hummus, and decided to see if I could make a few changes to make it a bit healthier. Super excited, I made it as soon as I got home.
Holy cow. It was flippin’ amazing. The best flavor EVER!!! And so easy too!
I served it up to the king of dips (my husband) and he was wary. He had tasted my last attempt at hummus. He honestly didn’t even want to try it. But I made him. 🙂 And he loved it!! After I told him that it had not only greek yogurt but cottage cheese in it too, he was floored. You can’t taste the healthy in this recipe at all! It is so amazingly fresh and delicious!
If you’re like me and hate eating fresh veggies, then this is the thing for you! You will love dipping carrots in this hummus. And because it has cottage cheese, greek yogurt AND garbanzo beans, it has lots of protein and will fill you up! That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

I did the exact same thing! I wanted to make hummus, but I needed tahini. Spent half an hour searching the entire store and couldn’t find it! Thanks for sharing this tahini free version 🙂 It looks spot on and honestly, sounds even better!
Love this version!! Love the ranch taste and the fact that it has cottage cheese which means more protein. Thanks so much for the recipe!!
Thank you, Jen. Another nice recipe. Have a Good Week!
Yum! I have never heard of adding yogurt and cottage cheese to hummus, but I’ve gotta try it! I hope you are exaggerating about crying over your failed hummus. I’m sure it was the recipe’s fault and not yours! This one looks fab, Jen. xo
Jen, I am loving this combo, definitely the best of both worlds!
Thanks Beth! It’s seriously the best hummus ever! Thanks for stopping by!!
I need to put my big girl pants on and try this too! I’m so scared of making hummus. Why is that?! 🙂
This looks amazing! I love hummus and was scared to try it at first. But its so easy and versatile! Ill have to try your version soon! It looks great!
Ranch Hummus is such a GREAT idea! The perfect veggie dip, Jen!!
I just made this without the cottage cheese because I didn’t have any on hand and subbed for additional greek yogurt (I used about 1 cup of yogurt total). Also added a dash of tabasco and it’s delicious! I’m challenging myself to use up my pantry staples before a move and this fit the bill to eat up my pretzels, a big head of celery and carrots. Yum! Thanks for a great recipe!
I’m so happy you liked it!! Thanks so much for the comment!
