Strawberry Basil Lemonade | refreshing lemonade made with lemon, strawberry and basil. Absolutely delicious! (No added white sugar!)
Guess what I got to do this weekend?? I got to see my older two boys perform their piano songs they’ve been learning! I can’t even believe how good they’ve gotten in a few short months. My husband plays piano and is really good so I’m excited to see if his talent rubbed off on the boys at all.
When I was a kid, I took piano lessons for a few years and my teacher randomly just decided one day that she was done teaching and that was that. I never had another piano lesson again after that.
I then started playing the violin in the orchestra in middle school – even though I REALLY wanted to play the saxophone. My mom insisted on violin. I played all through middle school and then made the pom & cheer squad in high school and that was that. No more violin. Are you sensing a pattern?? I am not a musician and have never stuck with music. #fail
I hope my boys aren’t like that. It’s so great if you can play an instrument. I love seeing them develop different talents. Do you play a musical instrument?
Speaking of talents, my oldest almost hit a homerun at his baseball game on Saturday! He’s really turned a corner on his batting skills and baseball in general.
I love baseball season and springtime. I can’t believe it’s already almost May! Where does the time go?? Summer is right around the corner….which brings me to my recipe today!
Have I told you lately that I’m obsessed with my Vitamix? I am loving making all sorts of concoctions in that blender. My latest amazing yumminess is this Strawberry Basil Lemonade. There’s nothing better than a refreshing lemonade on a warm summer day.
I love the added basil in this, it adds a nice pop of flavor. It’s just about the only herb plant I haven’t killed with my black thumb! There’s no white sugar – just a little agave. This drink has such a bright, delicious lemon flavor. It’s perfect to serve at your next BBQ or picnic!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1 lemon peeled & halved
- 4 strawberries hulled
- 4 Tbsp. honey or agave
- 1/2 - 1 cup ice cubes
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into blender (I use my Vitamix) and blend until combined and frothy smooth.
- Pour into cups and garnish with lemon slices and a sprig of basil. Enjoy!
That is so fun that both your boys play! Everyone in our family does too. Being disciplined in music teaches so many life skills!
Vitamix for the win! I really need one now 😉 This lemonade will help me survive all summer activities!
You totally need to buy a Vitamix!! You play piano too? I love hearing my boys and husband play. Really makes me wish I’d kept up with it. So beautiful. Have a great week, Mary Frances! Thanks for stopping by!
My daughter just started piano lessons and is loving it – I’m hoping it stays at least half this fun for her for years to come! Love this lemonade, has me dreaming of hot summer days and long light evenings 🙂
How fun that you got to see your boys perform! I played piano for years as a kid, but at some point I stopped and I can’t do much AT ALL on a piano! So sad. We are planning to start at least our oldest one this summer and I hope she loves it and sticks with it. LOVE love love this drink, Jen….strawberry basil is one of my favorite flavors ever! Can’t wait to try it!!
This just SCREAMS summer to me! Can’t wait to try bit!
Thanks Kristy!!
Sounds like a good week for the boys! I’d love to sit down and cool off with this beverage this summer!
Would this be good with some white wine added?
Probably, Connie!!
What a fun post 🙂 So many great ideas. This is exactly what I need these days. Pinned!
