Strawberry Orange Julius

Happy Valentine's Day!
My oldest didn't make valentine's for his class this year and I had to talk my 8 year old into making some for his class. They aren't having classroom parties or anything! What's up with that?! I guess the older you are, the less cool it is. ;) I'm excited to start some fun Valentine's Day traditions with my youngest two when they get a bit older. What are you doing for Valentine's Day?

And what's up with my obsession with drinks lately?! I've made smoothies and floats right and left for some reason! Maybe it's because my oldest is crazy about them? The other day when I told him we were going to make these Strawberry Orange Julius's after school, he was really excited and when he came home from school he walked right over to the cupboard and got out the blender. He might not have a valentine at school but he does like a good smoothie! :)

Ingredients:
  • 3 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind works!)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar or Splenda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 of a banana
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries (I also add a few fresh!)
  • handful of ice cubes, until desired consistency
Directions:
  1. In a blender, combine orange juice concentrate, milk, water, sugar, vanilla and banana. Blend until smooth.
  2. Add in strawberries and blend until smooth. Now add ice cubes (one at a time) and blend until the consistency you like.
  3. Pour into glasses and ENJOY!!

Just got done making this. Next time I would leave out the vanilla or at least use less. Maybe it depends on what vanilla you use. I always use good quality vanilla. Believe it or not, the vanilla flavor was over powering. Otherwise the flavor & texture were great.
