Fresh Air Retreat
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to fly to Breckenridge, Colorado and spend time with some amazing bloggers. I am incredibly lucky to have a job that I love and gives me the freedom to do things outside of the box.
One of those things is being able to attend retreats like the #FreshAirRetreat in Colorado, which was organized by Liz of The Lemon Bowl and Lauren of The Curious Plate.
These opportunities for me are amazing because I get to spend one on one time with a small group of like-minded people who inspire me.
We had the opportunity to ask each other questions about work related tasks and talk about what’s helping our businesses and conversely, what’s not.
I also got to meet several brands and business owners. We were able to sit down in an intimate panel setting with people from USA Pears and Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. This was very informative and helpful as a blogger to get inside knowledge on how things work from the brands perspective.
At a food blogger event like this, you know there will be some good eating going on! La Croix hooked us up with some yummy sparkling waters. We even had the amazing Rasheed Phillips from Phillips Barbecue Co. make us an amazing beef dinner which inspired this recipe.
Rasheed uses a smoker (which I don’t have and it would probably take me years to figure out, lol!) so I decided to share my version of cooking my favorite Ribeye.
But first, let’s talk a little bit about Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner. I love me a good Ribeye Steak!
How to Make an Amazing Ribeye Steak
This cut of Steak is rich, juicy and full-flavored with generous marbling throughout. They are absolutely delicious.
Step 1: Season!
When making a Ribeye, you want to make sure it’s well-seasoned. You don’t need a lot of fancy flavors to make it taste amazing. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.
Step 2: Get your cast iron skillet ready
A cast iron skillet is my favorite way to cook Ribeye Steaks. The pan gets extremely hot and also retains heat for a long time. You’ll want to preheat your pan over medium-high heat, add in oil (I like to use avocado oil because it has a higher heat point). When it’s hot, add in that meat!
Step 3: Sear Steak
Place the Ribeyes into the skillet and cook until it’s easily moved. This takes between one and two minutes. Carefully flip the steaks, placing it in a different section of the skillet. When you get that golden crust, add in the garlic, butter, rosemary and thyme sprigs.
Step 4: Cook as Desired
Reduce heat to medium and cook until the steaks are cooked to your desired degree of doneness. Let the steak rest for a few minutes before cutting in.
How Long Does It Take to Cook Steak on a Cast-Iron Skillet?
The steak should be in the pan for about five minutes, depending on your desired doneness. Prepping the meat and pan takes a little effort, but the cook time is short since you’re using a cast iron skillet.
How Do You Cook a Medium-Rare Steak in a Cast-iron Skillet?
A medium-rare steak has a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. It’s incredibly delicious!
Keep in mind that the Ribeye Steak will continue to cook a little bit after it’s been removed from the pan, so aim for a few degrees shy of your desired temperature.
Enjoy and let me know if you give this method a try!
