Crazy easy Whole Wheat Pizza Dough – no rising needed! Quick, healthy and delicious crust for your favorite pizza!
Merry Christmas from my family to yours! I hope you were able to celebrate and enjoy the time with your friends and family! This was the picture (below) we used for our holiday card. 🙂
Did Santa bring you all that you wanted? 🙂 We had a great Christmas except for a few little snafu’s.
We bought a great wooden swingset/playground on Walmart.com and it was scheduled to be delivered the day after Christmas. I was planning on wrapping a picture of the swingset and letting the boys open that to show them what would be delivered and to get excited about it.
Well, two days before Christmas, I get a phone call saying that the box was here (like 10 minutes away from our house) but that it came totally crushed and the playground was damaged. They said we needed to order a new one to be delivered (aka 2-3 more weeks to get it). Yeah. Not cool to tell parents two days prior to Christmas.
Sooooo…we called the customer service line and stayed on the phone with them for about an hour trying to fix the situation. First of all, the playground we bought was totally sold out – so no way to have them ship a new one. They said they would reimburse us but we’d have to buy a new one. The problem being that the only ones they had available were more expensive and we were still waiting to get reimbursed from the previous swing set (could take 2 weeks to get our money back), meaning we’d be out a few grand before being reimbursed. So, we’re waiting to be reimbursed before buying another one.
And then the basketball hoop we bought for our older boys? Missing a huge part of the pole. Couldn’t put it together. Seriously. Such a bummer. Both of these things will get figured out soon but sort of messed up our Christmas celebrations.
But let’s talk about New Years. What are your resolutions? We recently bought a treadmill (our Christmas gift for each other) and plan on toning up in 2015. We’re trying to eat healthier and to lose some pounds. So, I’m changing our eating habits and making healthier choices.
Whole wheat pizza dough? Perfect. Makes for comfort food dinner that’s healthier! I love the taste of wheat in dough. So nutty and delish. Making pizza dough a bit healthier makes me happy. I have a great pizza recipe that I’m posting on Monday that you’ll want to use this whole wheat pizza crust recipe for! Stay tuned for more greatness! 😉 Have a great weekend!
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 - 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 1/4-oz envelope pizza yeast (I used Fleischmann's brand)
- 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2/3 cup very warm water 120º - 130ºF
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425ºF.
- Combine 1 cup flour, undissolved yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add water and 3 Tbsp. olive oil. Mix until blended, about 1 minute.
- Gradually add enough remaining flour until a soft ball is formed. Dough will be somewhat sticky.
- Knead dough on a floured surface, adding more flour if needed. About 4 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Pat dough to fill out greased pizza pan. Add toppings as desired, bake for approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on amount of toppings. Enjoy!
I’m so excited to try this recipe, Jen! I have a go-to whole-wheat pizza dough recipe, but sometimes there just isn’t time for rising and this will come in so handy. I love that picture of your family!
A beautiful family and picture. Thanks Jen. Have great weekend.
Love whole wheat pizza crust. I need to try this one.
Once looking family!!
I need a good whole wheat pizza dough recipe! Pinned! Sorry you guys had some issues. That’s tough to explain to little ones too. It will be so worth it though. Our kids LOVE our swing set!
ACK! That is not cool, but I am sure the boys still had a wonderful Christmas! I am Pinning this for later, I am also changing my eating habits! So I am curious, this Pizza crust looks pretty thin, if you don’t make it as thin, will it still be a bread crust? My boyfriend likes thin crust but I like a little thicker!
I need to start eating better myself. This crust looks so thin and crispy. I know I’d love it, even if it is healthy!
Very easy pizza! Nice story about playground:) Beautiful photo of your family!
I love this recipe! I’ve made it a few times now and thought I’d let you know 🙂 Thank you!!
Hi Laura! Thank you so much for letting me know! I really appreciate it and I’m so happy you like it!
excellent recipe! We’ve enjoyed it many times! Thank you!
I’m so happy you’ve been making it and loving it! Thanks for the comment!
We are new to the “whole wheat/whole grain” lifestyle as we just recently made the switch for a healthier life with our kiddos. I had never heard of pizza yeast and was super excited that there would be no waiting. We tried this tonight and it was so very easy! One bowl makes super easy cleanup. Ours was made in a 12″x 1/2″ pizza pan and was about the thickness of Little Caesar’s pizza if you know what that is. I think next time I will split the one recipe into two pizza pans and try for it thinner. Great flavor. We added oil/butter with garlic to the crust while it was baking and it was great. Kiddos (4 yrs and 9 yrs) loved it too! Very filling! Thank you for sharing because this one was one of the only truly “easy” pizza crust recipes on Pinterest I found. Highly recommend and will make again for sure!
