Brownies are my absolute fave dessert.
I usually try to eat healthy but when it comes to dessert, I cave. I love me a big, fudgy, chocolate frosted brownie. Whenever I’m at a bakery or a sandwich shop and they have those already packaged brownies by the register, I always think, “I can go home right now and make some waaaaaay better than those”. And it’s true. Not because I’m the best baker in the universe, but because I have this delectable recipe that anyone can make – melt some butter and add some other ingredients in a bowl. Stir together with a wooden spoon. Bake. See? Super simple. And they always turn out amazingly fudgy, rich and delish. These are by far the best fudgy ones out there. The frosting tastes almost like texas sheet cake frosting. With or without the frosting, these brownies are so worth the calories!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. softened butter
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 Tbsp. milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8x8 inch pan with cooking spray.
- In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter OR melt in a large microwave safe bowl in microwave. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs and 1 tsp. vanilla with wooden spoon. Stir in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt and baking powder. Spread in bottom of baking dish.
- Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Do NOT overbake! (I usually pull out of the oven at 25 minutes because we like them really fudgy!)
- For frosting: combine 3 Tbsp. softened butter, 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder, honey, 1 tsp. vanilla, powdered sugar and milk. Spread on brownies while still warm. Let set until cool and then cut into bars and serve. ENJOY!!

Oh, and we’ve been making Cake in a Mug all winter long! When we went through the mix for the chocolate cake, I asked hubby what flavor he wanted next. He said white cake…..we just love white cake! So we made that next. But white chocolate chips don’t melt like the dark chocolate one did. They just turn to a gluey paste….not pleasant. SO……I nixed the chips, and instead….turned the cake onto dessert plates (like a little tower!), and made a raspberry jam/lemon juice sauce….poured over the tower, chocolate syrup drizzle, whipped cream in a can, more drizzle and a cherry! GAWD! It is awesome! Our brand new favorite dessert!
Thanks a bunch!
I’m with you, Jen. I LOVE frosted brownies! These look very moist, fudgey, and just the way I like them. Wouldn’t mind one with a cold glass of milk before I turn in for the night.

I just realized I don’t have a go-to brownie recipe. How can I not have a go-to brownie recipe? Well, I do now. Thanks for sharing 🙂

I love brownies all gooey and yummy like this… and I married a man who decimates them by making them into cake like brownies because he likes them that way… Women everywhere, forget asking how many children he wants, ask how he likes his brownies!
I made these tonight and they were delicious! I had to give the rest to my neighbor so I didn’t eat the whole pan!
just made these! im sure they’ll taste amazing as they sure sound it! *(its currently cooling :P) but had a lil bit of an issue with the frosting that was solid.. :S did I do something wrong? ended up boiling it with some hot water on the stove..
Wow now that’s some fudgy brownies if I’ve ever seen them! I can seriously just taste them!
Yea, you are going to need to prove it to me!! I will require a box of these brownies for all the taste testing! 🙂 😉
