I forced myself went to yoga, came home and decided that I had to make a smoothie. Smoothies cure all, right?! (I’m sort of on a green smoothie kick – if you couldn’t tell from THIS post a couple weeks ago…) I had a bag of kale sitting in the fridge and I decided to improvise a little.
Who would have thought kale and chocolate would go so well together?! This smoothie was honestly SO tasty. Definitely didn’t taste healthy! 🙂 I can’t wait to make it again! Kale is full of vitamins and antioxidants, add in the protein from the peanut butter & protein powder, a little banana and BAM! A super healthy, filling and delicious smoothie! Perfect for breakfast, after a workout or just because. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Chocolate & Kale Protein Smoothie

- Add in remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Pour into glass and ENJOY!!
Ah my 2 favorites things in the foodie world: kale and chocolate – seriously. And in a shake no less! Yum. This reminds me of a Shamrock Shake I made with spinach, almond milk, frozen banana, and peppermint extract the other day. I’m on a smoothie kick and will definitely be trying this one soon! 🙂 Happy spring!
Jen,
You sure know how to tempt a girl, this looks so good. Hope you are having a great weekend and thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday.

I’ve been a little leery of trying kale in a smoothie but I like your addition of chocolate. I’m going to try it.
I am excited to be co-hosting the marvelous monday link up this week. This looks really good.
Love this. Thanks for sharing with us at “In and Out of the Kitchen”
So, I tried this smoothie this morning, but made a change:
1 TBSP almond butter (because it better for me)
1/4 c aprox. pumpkin flax granola (natures’ path)
1 TBSP Flax seed
I was very good. I even got my DH (dear husband) to eat/drink a vegetable. Normally, DH would not touch Kale.
Thanks for posting,
Priscilla

Hi there,
Wondering what brand of whey you used for this?
Love your blog, thanks!
Just tried it and wow! I think I put too much pb though lol. This is a keeper 😉
It’s really good, right?! I love this smoothie!
I made this for my sister yesterday, and she loved it – so did I! It’s very tasty, and we did not taste the kale in it.
Yay! Thanks! I love this one. It’s so easy and tastes so good.
This was my first Kale shake…ever! And it was awesome! Will definitely be a regular for me. I did substitute almond butter for PB (my preference) and put an entire banana instead of a half (it was already prepped that way).
Super stoked to have found a way to “get down kale” haha. I’ll actually look forward to it now!
Isn’t it a delicious smoothie? And it’s so healthy! Thanks for the comment, Jessica! So glad you liked it!
I do a similar one and use Cacao powder and hemp powder. Very kid friendly smoothie recipe.
Hi,Jen
It really looks good & I love how easy it is! I love kale & almond milk in my smoothie. My kids also enjoy them too much. Thanks for putting it together.
This was awesome! I was thinking of adding kale to my regular chocolate smoothie but wasn’t sure how it would taste so starting searching chocolate kale smoothie and came across your recipe. I substituted oat milk because that’s what I use …and I loved it! Thanks for sharing!
