Crock Pot Sloppy Joes! It doesn’t get much easier than a little ground beef, (or turkey!) some spices and ketchup, thrown all in a crock pot and then 4 – 6 hours later – dinner is ready! I love serving mine on a whole wheat bun with a sprinkling of cheese and a side of veggies. YUM!
When I make my weekly grocery list, sometimes I am totally stumped about things to fix that are healthy, easy to make, and that my kids will actually eat with no drama. 😉
And that’s when I usually think: SLOPPY JOES!! My boys LOVE sloppy joes! I guess boys like most things that are messy, right? Lol!
But really, it doesn’t get much easier than a little ground beef (or turkey!) add in some spices and ketchup, throw it all in a crock pot and then in 4 – 6 hours you have an easy meal! I love serving mine on a whole wheat bun with a little cheese and a side of veggies. YUM! What’s your go-to dinner recipe?

Yum! I am such a little kid, and I totally LOVE sloppy joes. I usually just use the packet mix, but I am really excited to try this recipe. The best part is that they are all ingredients I have on hand!
How many servings?
Hi Lisa! Around 4-6 servings!
Can this be done on the stove top? If so what do you think the changes in the recipe be?
Hi! If you brown the meat (drain if needed) and add all the rest of the ingredients, you can simmer on the stovetop until everything is heated through and the brown sugar is dissolved. That should be just as yummy as using the crock pot! 🙂
Love this recipe and super easy! Making again for dinner tonight.
This is almost exactly the recipe I have used for years. Minus the brown sugar. But I add in several spoonfuls of pickle relish (dill or sweet – your choice) and some of the juice from the relish as well. Great sloppy joes! Never tried it with a slice of cheese on top, but I think I will next time!
Can I double this recipe to increase the serving size? If so, how long should it cook in the crockpot?
Hi Michelle! You can definitely double it, I double it every time I make it. 🙂 The cook time doesn’t increase because the meat is already cooked so it’s just heating it up and cooking the sauce. I hope you try it and like it!
What if I can only use the slow cooker for 2.5/3 hours? Should I cook it on high?
Yes, you can cook it on high for 2.5 or 3 hours. It’s pretty much already cooked before you add it to the slow cooker so it will be fine! I hope you give it a try!
I’ve made these twice and my husband absolutely loves them he says they’re the only sloppy joes he wants from now on, I add hot dogs the last half hour so we can have sloppy joes or sloppy dogs….very good?
Ohhh! Adding hot dogs is a great idea!! So happy you like the recipe!
Hi! These sound delicious. I am going for about 9 hours during the day- do you think I could cook on low for 8 hours instead of 6?
Hi Lisa! I think it would be fine. However, how big is your crock pot? Are you planning on doubling the recipe or not? Those things might make a difference…
This is the recipe that made my son realize he likes sloppy joes!
Woohoo!! I’m so glad he liked them!
